william shatner is awesome.
hes a very comic guy. i wouldnt take him seriously 100% of the time. I dont think Shatner wanted a cameo anyways and i think he is toying with that fact tongue in cheek.

let me get this straight: Shatner is awesome, but his time as Kirk has passed :(, it was a great 30year run though and we will all miss him!
The thing is, Nimoy looks like a perfectly aged Mr. Spock these days. Shatner has let himself go and would certainly not do justice to Kirk. I'm glad he's not in the movie

Shatner is obviously a humorous guy, who doesn't take the franchise too seriously.
now that i think about it, all jj had to do was to sit down with Nimoy and Shatner and create a plot where all three men are happy with. Kirk´s return, Kirk younger years. Kirk´s first trip on the Enterprise...seeing a pattern here?
George Lucas said about indy 4 (to the fans) ''not to expect too much from the sequel'' and now J.J says this. what happened to filmmakers going like ''oh this is a dream gone true, i always wanted to do this. ill do everything i can to make this the greatest movie ever!'' etc etc. writing Shatner in should have been easy enough. but there not ''smart'' enough? maybe its a big marketing thing and Shatner does pop up. because what is Nimoy without Shatner?

William Shatner is the best, Captain Kirk will live on forever. JJ Abrams needs to rethink future Star Trek movies, the original Captain Kirk is just as important as the orignal Mr. Spock.

Can't happen, Kirks parents get killed early in the film. Could have had Kirk play his grandfather though with a little bit of older makeup perhaps?
i wish they would have done that. That would have been easy to just fit him in to a quick little scene with Kirk as his father before he leaves to the Enterprise or w/e the plot of the new film is.=)
