wonder if it can run 100% load on cpu for more than 24 hours straight and in a well cooled custom chassis that can hole 48 of these and with its oun built in network switch 48 port this is a 8u chassis

Cool kit! Great for moms & grandmoms! But waaaaaay too expensive for the power. And the power brick is as big as the case! At least it could be built-in (somehow), or the 2 units could be attachable/stackable, so the only thing outside is the power cord. Love this stuff, any way! SEND ME ONE! Erm... please?!?

CMOS is the main piece that is vulnerable to static discharge. Typically you won't "fry" the motherboard, you'll just screw up the CMOS.
I'm not trying to insult you directly man, I'm just stating that if you go into most modern computer repair shops you'll see that unless you are in an unusually high static environment you're not gonna see anyone wearing anti-static wrist bands, we just tap the edge of the work bench to make sure we don't have any built up static and then we dig in....
I've never had any problems messing with computers while lacking an antistatic wristband. I've fixed up a large variety of computers by simply touching a piece of metal for a couple seconds before touching a motherboard. of course, I work on a surface thats static resistant, like a table...i dunno, maybe im just lucky?

Motherboard lamination is irrelevant if he is touching the ICs directly...
With mobo lamination that has been going on for the past decade or so, no one uses anti static bands any more unless you are barefooted and dragging your feet across the carpet.
No anti-static precautions? This guy is an idiot if he's touching the board and RAM without it.
Actually, it doesn't seem to be that bad, expect late P3/ early Celeron D (P4 era) performance, with 1GHz CPU, 1GB DDR2 SDRAM, 160GB IDE HDD, it's not blazing, but not horrible.
By the way, found a 4 inch screen and hinges at B and H photo. Anyway, it has about 1 ghz of power, although it probably can be upgraded with a bit of tweaking (It is a DIY kit after all). Same applies to the memory. Cool if you need a bunch of low density servers in a small area.

It would not have anything close to desktop power, let alone modern day laptop power. Its just cute and small great for a closet system
In Italia si compra a 460€ con 1gb di RAM e HD da 160gb. Costa troppo. se costava max 300€, lo prendevo subito. Con 100€ in più ti prendi un mac mini..... e con 300 euro ti prendi un thin client della Epatec o il Linutop. Però è bellino.

I want one. This would be so much more convenient than a laptop if I can find a really small LCD screen. Would sure way a lot less, and have desktop power.
I read on one site that their clocked at a max of 50W (could just be either the powersupply they used or how much stress they put on it during their benchmark)... Still... That is massive energy savings either way. I want one.. :)
