I did install and thoroughly test Ubuntu-EEE for my review, but had already installed Windows 2000 when I realized I had completely forgotten to record any screenshots of the Ubuntu installation. I can be such a n00b sometimes... :) To install Windows 2000, you'll have to create a new installation disc with the nLite utility available at http://www.nliteos.com . You'll need to include the latest Windows 2000 Service Pack and the drivers from the EEE PC 900's Windows XP driver disc, otherwise the Windows 2000 installation will fail to start. One of the best tweaks you can perform under Windows is to move the swap file from the primary to the secondary solid-state drive. You'll have more room for your applications, and there will be fewer read/write accesses to the primary drive. A correction. THIS IS NOT MY CAR. NOR DO I KNOW THE GUY WHO OWNS IT. Let's also clear something up.. this car has 900 rwhp(rear wheel horsepower)... that's different from bhp(brake horsepower) which is measured from the engine. The bugatti veyron has 1000Bhp, not whp(power to the wheels, since it's awd). rwhp is ROUGHLY 15-20% less than bhp. so a car with 1000bhp probably has around 850rwhp. With that said, this car has probably around 1100 bhp... so please retards, don't say that the veyron has more hp bc it clearly doesn't. Whether it goes faster is completely different and if your e-penis gets bigger after stating your opinion, then go for it. With that said, here is a description of everything done to the car THAT I FOUND ON THE WEBSITE THAT I FOUND THIS VIDEO FROM(for the tards who wonder how I know so much about it): This car started out as a 1999 Mustang GT 5 speed. The car retains most of the factory interior excpet for the gauge cluster which has been replaced with the Florida 5.0 Setup. I will give you a rundown of what the car has. This car made 888Rwhp and 787+Rwtq on the dyno BLOWING the tires of the car on the rollers. Car was tuned by Job Spetter Jr from Turbo People and was still unable to fully tune the car because they couldn't get traction on the dyno. This is the car that WILL spin at 100+mph. The turbos on this car are low mounted, so you can't see them from the engine compartment. Es diu Emilio Calatayud i és el titular del Jutjat de Menors número 1 de Granada. LINEA 900 ha estat durant una setmana la sombra d'Emilio Calatayud, el jutge que condena a alguns menors a aprendre a llegir i escriure. El programa ha estat a casa seva, el en el Jutjat i a les seves xerrades amb pares i educadors. Hem seguit alguns menors que estan en llibertat vigilada o bé fent una prestació social; a d'altres que ja van complir la seva condemna i fins i tot els que romanen tancats en un centre de reforma. Perquè encara que sigui més conegut per dictar sentències exemplars, l'Emilio Calatayud no es deixa influenciar a l'hora d'enviar a la presó els que han comès delictes greus. El jutjat d'Emilio és un bon termòmetre per a prendre la temperatura social de l'Estat. En 20 anys no només han canviat els menors i els seus hàbits, ha canviat també les famlies, els col•legis i la societat en general. Asus EEE PC 900 Vista Vs XP Vs Linux - Boot & Shutdown Test This is the video you have all been requesting, a benchmark between all three systems. After the 3D mark 2003 tests, I was considering a way of benchmarking Linux as well. I did a ray tracing test and a few others but they were not very watchable or YouTube friendly. The test most of you have requested is a straight forward boot test between Linux, XP and Vista. My conclusion is that Linux is still the fastest but not by much. XP works perfectly and very close to Linux and the fact that Vista runs as well as it does at all it great. XP and Linux are very much on par for those of you mulling over which system to buy. The performance difference is negligible when you consider the superior device support XP has over Linux. Win XP vs. Win Vista Home Premium -- 3D Mark 2003 Benchmark test. It's a miracle that Windows XP Home Edition runs as good as it does on the successor of the original EEE PC 701. Now we can push the limits of this new system by installing Vista Home Premium retail (unmodified or optimised). This is an OS that even most larger computers struggle to run. Many people are rightly amazed that a system slightly lager than a standard DVD box with some of the lowest specifications available on the market can even run Vista at all let alone in a usable form. But how does this system compare to XP? Surely it wouldnt stand a chance? Well Ive set up two identical systems running XP and Vista side by side and ran 3D Mark 2003 to test these machines to the max. The results may surprise you. You will need to see it to believe it. Left System: EEE PC 900 900Mhz Celeron Mobile ULV Intel GMA 900 GPU Windows XP Home Edition 1GB 400Mhz Ram 20GB internal SD HDD Right System: EEE PC 900 900Mhz Celeron Mobile ULV Intel GMA 900 GPU Windows Vista Home Premium Edition 1GB 400Mhz Ram 20GB internal SD HDD Test 1: Boot test Notice the fast boot speed of the Windows XP system. The Windows Vista System is actually not so far behind. You'll notice the same speed differential between two identical high spec PC systems. Conclusion: EEE PC 900 can boot up a standard retail copy of Vista Home Premium without a hitch. Test 2: 3D Mark 2003 The XP system loads this program faultlessly and quickly. The Vista system takes a little longer to load each test but once it does, it runs it as good as XP. The Vista overhead does not seem to detract from its 3D rendering capabilities. Test 3: Demo Mode Interestingly, when in demo mode, the Vista Unit loaded the tests fatser than XP leaving XP trailing a little. I have no explanation why this is. Conclusion: Draw -- Vista and XP scores are almost identical. Asus EEE PC 900 XP scored 481 Asus EEE PC 900 Vista scored 469 I ran this test several times off cam and in some cases XP beat vista and in other cases Vista beat XP by a small margin. There was no consistent differential in score. In this particular video XP just happens to beat Vista by a few points. Overall Im surprised at how well the 900 handles Vista's overheads compared to XP. This is all on a standard EEE PC 900 and a standard retail copy of Vista HP and Win XP HE without optimisations. The Future: The Vista install is a standard retail copy with no modifications or optimisations. Hardware wise I look forward to installing 2 GB 533mhz Ram (currently this module is not supported in the bios so lets hope Asus offer a firmware upgrade). Once indexing is switched off, background programs are turned off and other elements are fine tuned Vista on EEE PC should run even smoother. The same optimisations apply to XP too.
