In this podcast you'll learn how to fuse plastic together and then make a bag out of it! All you need is an iron, plastic bags, sewing machine, and some straps and buckles.

Directed by Stephen Leslie, this be the unedited version of Tim Minchin's Environmental Anthem film clip recorded for BBC3's Comedy Shuffle.

This week is all about the plastic bag. We get inspired to use reusable shopping bags and get a lesson on how-to make one out of old clothes. Tim Michin at the Gala 2006. This really depends on your sense of humour..I was like 'meh, its alright'. But I know there are Tim Michin fans out there and people with a wider sense of humour than me ^^

Just a short slideshow I made about my environmental campaign, which my friend and I began when we were 12. Through lobbying the local, state and national governments, we were able reduce the amount of plastic bags in our local shopping strip by 80%. We hope to eventually make it a plastic bag free zone.

UNSW's commercialisation arm, NewSouth Innovations (NSi) has signed a deal with Australia's largest manufacturer of steel long products, OneSteel, that gives the steel-maker exclusive rights to sub-license unique technology to reduce reliance on coke and coal in electric arc furnace (EAF) steel-making. Invented and developed by materials scientist Professor Veena Sahajwalla, the technology substitutes up to 30 percent of coke and coal with polyethylene waste plastic, thereby reducing landfills and producing a win for the environment. Help solve a global problem by giving up this one little convenience.

"How to turn those pesky plastic grocery bags that seem to pile up into a cool dog leash and also help keep plastic bags out of our landfills, one dog at a time!" You don't have to own a dog to make these, just donate what you make to your local animal shelter or dog rescue. You can make this a class project then let the kids donate what the've made to their local animal shelter or dog rescue, I'm sure they would love them for it!

Call us boring and simple-minded, but before we saw the work of street artist Joshua Allen Harris we never once considered the artistic possibilities of subway exhaust. Using only tape and garbage bags, Harris creates giant inflatable animals that become animated when fastened to a sidewalk grate. Steven Psyllos caught up with Harris recently to discuss his older works (including a bear and a giraffe) and unveil a new beast that looks not unlike the Cloverfield monster. Video by Jonah Green
