Hailing from a poor family in Texas, her life read like a rags to riches story filled with Hollywood glamour, yet plagued with scandal and tragedy. She became a tabloid mainstay after she wed an 89 year-old oil billionaire, was often criticized for behavior deemed "trashy", and even tipped the scales at over 200lbs, but Anna always maintained her popularity - ringing in the highest ratings for the debut of a reality show on basic cable with 2002's "The Anna Nicole Show". Often compared to the 1950s sex symbol Marilyn Monroe, her life ended similarly with a prescription drug overdose at the age of 39 in 2007. She died less than a year after losing her 20 year-old son to a drug overdose, amid the controversy of a paternity suit for her newborn daughter and the ongoing court battle for her late husband's estate. Anna Nicole Smith is remembered as a vivacious, blonde bombshell who represented success and fame and the excesses that often come with it.
